limitless options here....all good answers and yea karo is on eof the best ot use....black cherry kool aide rocks as well....a little trick i learned while filming The Ancient was to put a few drops of dishwashing detergent in the mix for quicker cleanup...just dont eat it..tastes like poop,lol....

make sure you read the label on the dish detergent. if you have your actor fully submerged - you might find that their eye will start burning and if they do swallow anything, not only will it taste like poop going down, it might have to come back up and it will taste like poop and vomit.
sticking to the edible mixtures is the safest way to go try to stay away from as much of the sugar items as you can.

oh yea..totally agree on the detergent...only used for exterior ...if we use anything liek that johnson and johnson baby works good...doesnt taste good, but hey...not supposed to...lol....but yeah..best to stick to safe stuff unless ya have actors willing to get risky..lol..and yeah sugar sux...lol....

I am only chiming in because I had a possibility that noone voiced: There is something called Casein Paint. This paint is Milk Based and is a bit pricey (35-55 dollars a gallon) but is VERY concentrated and could easily be diluted in water and leave a murky blood color if mixed properly.
