Three gothic chicks canoe to a secluded island. Cut to present day as seven friends rent a cabin and check in. The owner of the place tells the legend of a massacre of a teenage Witch group. As they head to the cabins that night weird things start happening after they open up this box which hold a game of ancient evil. They are forced to play the game by ghosts of past. The question is whether any of them will survive finishing the game or end up dead.
I'll have to admit that I was all but expecting a standard predictable horror film but Ghost Game doesn’t follow the unoriginal DTV flicks before it. The story was better than most of the indie flicks that I see and the characters were all very likeable and the light humor(in a Scream kind of way) worked well to keep it interesting. I also have to mention the choice of rock music in the film was great as well. While most of the film was shot at night the picture quality was better than expected with a stylistic look to it that I cant really describe. Starting out I thought this would be similar to all the rest of the DTV movies out there with a groups of teens going to a cabin and getting murder by a guy in mask. Rather the contrary Ghost Game is mystery that keeps you guessing to the last minute. And if you’re looking for a smarter well written tale of horror Ghost Game is the movie for you. I look forward to future films from directed Joe Knee and if it is anything like this film it is a definite worth watching.
I give this film a 4 out 5
