i first got interesting making films after seeing the evil dead. After watching it for the first time, i was an immediate fan. Over the years ive read and watched many things that went on during there time making each film and i knew that i had to start making films (sounds kinda corny , but true)

As many others, I just got sick of seeing the same old tired CGI, not that I mind CGI in and of itself...just the over use without any clear thought towards plot, reasoning...etc.
Plus, what could be more rewarding than capturing some of your own nightmares and spreading them across like minded people? ;D

Seeing Evil Dead at age five made me realize my love for horror movies and since then I was a filmmaker (Remember if you say "I want to be a filmmaker you ARE one"- Robert Rodriguez)

since i was small i watched movies more than tv...i even used to set up hot wheels cars in chase scenes at take pictures of them or act like i had a video camera...did the same things with legos...my whole life ive felt like there was a camera in my face or everything i saw i was looking through a camera...so it just seemed right.

My dad got me into this. He used to make monster/horror films when he was a kid. So now it's just kinda come to me and I have taken it into the digital world. I mean with all this hi-tech stuff and computers, it's really a neat time to be a low budget filmmaker.

I started film making when i was about 5 years old. I would make my own films up with my teddys and at the age of 6 i watched the excorcist in bed. The excorcist wasn't the film that inspired me to make films, film making just came to my head but i grew up watching horror/b-movies.

I really got into films a few years ago when I realised I had to decide what to do with the rest of my life. I took a look at what I like and what I'm good at - that's being creative and making stories. Then I got into media studies and seeing how you direct - then i thought 'yeah, baby!'. Something just clicked, I totally understand it. I'm now completely obsessed with films and I can't see myself doing anything else in the future.

A bunch of things really:
i was living in Michigan when my cousins and his friends were involved in making this little movie entitled 'Evil Dead'. Some of the film 'Red Dawn' was filmed around that area as well.
In late eighties I watched Cohen's BLood Simple and finally got around to watching Evil Dead I and II and all three films just blew me away. Right then and there I started writing out scripts.
But I was also influenced by films like 'OUt of Brooklyn', which was directed by a one time director who used his library to get info on filmmaking. Said what he wanted to say and , from what I've been told, never directed another film again.
'Evil Spawn'. a film that supposedly was puttogether because bowling buddies pulled their money to make this steaming heap of garbage. If they could do it ...
and, of course, Rodriguez. Was amazed with how little he had to work with and what he was able to do with little money.

My dad and I were watching Evil Dead when I was around 3 years old and I told my dad I wanted to make movies. Then I also seen Star Wars (yes huge dork) that got me into it as well. But ever since then it was my dream to be a director and make movies. I seen the make-up effects in many horror movies to come and realized I wanted to make horror movies and create awesome special effects. So then I started reading up on directors, movie information, special effects, and every tid bit I could find. I started out with an actual camera in 7th grade. In school we were asked to do a project about trees. Well we filmed a short of a logger cutting down trees, then the trees got really mad and wanted revenge on the logger. We edited it on two VCRS, which is an assinine way to go about editing. But you'll try and do anything. Then finally a few years ago we invested in a nice camera and nice editing equipment. It's been a long challenging road, but a total blast.

star wars probably had a huge effect on me as well, I saw it when it was re-released in theaters before Empire came out and I practically saw both films back to back and it was just about too much for my young brain to deal with!
