Hi all,
Just wanted to drop a line to say that RetarDEAD, the sequel to the indie cult flick Monsturd will be available on DVD in May. It even has a cameo appearance by LBHFS moderator Superheidi!
Here's a link to our production Website (www.4321films.com).
If you click on the movie's poster, you'll go to a page that has the movie's trailer, movie description, an MP3 of the end theme song (that's free to download, share and pass around) and some production photos.
The movie was produced and directed by Dan West and myself and took about five years to make. Not because we actually spent 5 years making it, but because everyone involved in the production has day jobs. Trying to coordinate mass amounts of people for particular shoots (especially when no one was getting paid) proved difficult.
The movie has more than 200 people in it.
Unlike Monsturd, which cost us $3K. This movie set us back a whopping $15K. And it was all out of our own pockets. No Hollywood help on this bad boy.
But while the movie may have cost us $15K, you'll see every penny of it onscreen. Unlike a number of other indie zombie movies that we will not name, we didn't shoot this in our backyard with a bunch of our high school friends in a weekend. We took our time with this. Much of the $15K that went into the production went to pay our makeup artist, Ed Martinez (he did the makeup for the 80s cult zombie flick "The Dead Pit."
We have a few other cool little nuggets in there as well:
Jello Biafra (former lead singer of the Dead Kennedy's) plays the town's mayor.
The Living Dead Girlz kill one of our villains. Check out www.livingdeadgirlz.com to see a few videos that they've produced. Crazy stuff!
We have a cameo appearance by Mark Pirro in it. He's the filmmaker of such classics as "A Polish Vampire in Burbank," "Nudist Colony of the Dead," and "Curse of the Queerwolf." He plays a police dept. sketch artist.
With regards to the title of the movie, we know we're going to take some slings and arrows for it. We thought about renaming it "InfecDEAD," be then we asked ourselves, what movie title are people going to remember ten years from now, "RetarDEAD," or "InfecDEAD," we think the answer was obvious. Also, keep in mind that the title was created to stick in people's head. In the actual movie, the special kids are the victims, not the punch line or the butt of the jokes in the movie.
If anyone wants to be alerted when this movie will be available, please send an email to: RetarDEADNews@4321films.com. Be sure to put "RetarDEAD" in the subject line.
