I've been thinking about it, and I much prefer Night of the Living Dead to Dawn of the Dead. Although an undoubted classic, Dawn is over-rated and i think Night just has a creepier feel to it - plus it looks better. And I loved the surprise, 'bad' ending to Night - while Dawn's ending wasn't exactly what you would call happy, Night just ended on such a grim note, which captured the tone of the entire movie.

True, very true but did you know what the ending was gonna be to dawn of the dead? Ken foree originally shot himself in the head and Fran throws herself into the helicopter blades but they didn't want another "everyone dies" ending.

wow. and those endings are always the best.... but i haven't seen day of the dead yet, so maybe dawn left the tone for day to pick up on.

Yeah, but the remake ending was quite rushed. I hope the Day of the Dead remake has alot more gore in and a better story.

This film was great. If you think this is bad horror, your a spoiled little brat! It had its moments. It doesnt have the tension or creepy kind of subtle lessons that Shaun, or Dawn had, but it still gets the job done through intensity.
Oh, by the way, I'm Dion, a horror freak, and new to these boards... Hi all!

I just seen Dawn of the Dead last night, and it was one of the most awful films that I have ever seen. It was so bad, that I had to force myself to watch it, because I was paying for it through cable in-demand.
I am a fan of the original Romero film of 1978. I have it on DVD, which I may add does so much for the films detail and sound because it was digitaly remastered. Not only did this remake trash fail as a horror film, but with all of the gore that it did have, and all of the high budgeting make-up that it did had, we couldn't see it clearly. Because the zombies were running so fast like the bad terminator in "Terminator 2", it lacked suspense and horror. The film was so bad, that it's even hard for me to put it into words. I really felt that Ving Rhames and the guy on the roof of the other building, were going to fall in love and get busy, what was up with the soft spot he had for that guy. Writing letters on giant boards was killing me. I know that he must've felt sad for him, being that he was alone, but give me break already. Where is the link between this film and the Night of the living dead remake of the early 90's? Okay, in the original DOTD, nothing was said about Ben's character as well as the rest of the cast that were locked in that house, but in DOTD, the world knew what was happening. The dead had already been waking up, and it was already obvious they can only be killed by shooting them in the head. Only a few ignorant souls could not understand what was going on, but the magority did. This film should've began just like that, out of respect for the original. The world was already in a panic, but were trying to deal with it. The cast in the shopping mall was too large, and irritating. Certain people who died, we never got a chance to see them wake up from the dead. If This Zack Snyder wanted to make his own zombie flick, this still would have been an awful film, but I would've given the guy a little respect for effort.
Bad Bad film people. I knew that it was going to be a terrible film, but to be fair, I went to see it anyway.
