Hello every1,
I am currently working on a script for a movie I have entitled "The Dead of Night." As you might have guessed, it is a zombie movie, but I have tried my hardest to try and keep it away from the sterotypical group of teens getting eaten by hordes of the undead. I have also tried to make it as much different from the "Living Dead" trilogy, which I'm sure many will agree is very difficult to do. One of biggest differences is the fact that in my randition of zombie horror, the living dead only rise at night.
The Plot: Two friends on a road trip stop at a motel of a small country town. When waking, they find the manager dead... and they are the only suspects. Unable to leave, and troubled by the strange and mysterious towns folk, the two begin their own investigation into the death. It is in this search that the two come across the towns grizzle secret. When the sun falls, the dead rise and walk the earth.
Right now, the only tag I could come up with is:
"When the Sun's Away... The Dead Will Play."
If any one could help my in improving it (yes, i think it's lame) it would be greatly appreciated.
So, tell me what you think. Good, Bad, Horrible.
Thanks a ton. Chao. ;D

I don't believe it, I have the same thing in my movie too! I guess they're not really 'zombies' as they only come out at night, but I figured a little cross-pollination wouldn't go amiss ;D
I guess it's zombie season or something.

Thats kind of funny. But, n e ways. Chances are I wont get to film the movie myself. The script is near completion, but once it is complete, at this time, I don't think I would be able to give it the care it needs to make it right. Maybe in about a year, but not now. I think it would be better that I give the script to someone who can give it the care it neads. Well, well see soon enough.

Question: What do you guys think if instead of zombies I use some sort of creature/monster? Just wondering. It would be easy to make the change in the script.
OK, so the chooses are Zombies or Monster/Creature of some sort... I'm leaving it up to you guys... the most well liked idea wins...

That is wild- I've had a similar idea bouncing around in my head for years! My version was on a tropical island, though.
Definitely make it zombies. I think you have done a great job putting an original twist on the zombie concept, and you should run with it.
Maybe radiation from a nearby toxic waste dump reanimates the dead after they are buried. The two heroes can find all kinds of suspicious stuff-- a small town where every house has bars on the windows and steel plate doors, or a local undertaker who makes cremation the only option for the departed (the hotel manager's relatives insist on burying him and so do it in secret-- with disastrous consequences!).
As for the tag line, how about "When the sun goes down... The dead will rise!"
Anyway, good luck!

Thats funny that you mention the bars, because the opening scene is of zombies finding a way into one of the town homes. When you see the house, the windows are bared. Let me tell you, this sence is crazy. You'll nearly drop dead with suspense. And the end of the scene you wont believe. Oh, and how the zombies got in in the first place... lets say that that little detail is the key to the whole movie. Thank you alot for the input.
Oh, and I have nearly completed a teaser poster. Hope to have it up soon.

I like both tag lines myself. My only request: make the zombies move fast. you know what would be funny? In order to get the teens out of the picture, the film could take place at a nursing home! ...on second thought, forget I said that. This is the kind of stuff I like, please keep us all informed on how it's coming along.

Well, the way I've developed the story, there are different catagories of zombies:
The Newly Dead- These are the zombies of people resently dead. Because they are newly dead there is little to no muscle decay and there for are able to move fast.
The Age Old Zombie- These are the zombies of people that have risen from grave. They had been dead for years and years, and the decay of muscle keeps them at a slow crawl.
Don't worry, there are only 2 scenes that really focus on the Age Old Zombies. The rest of the movie, the characters deal with the newly dead, fast zombies.
I'll have some character bio's up soon.
Thanks. Chao ;D

What about as a tag line... When the sun sets... the dead rise? Just a thought.

I finally have good news... the script is finished. And I have GREAT news... the film is in production. A local film group called Moonlight Productions start filming once spring sets in (around here at least, lol). I'll actually be co-staring in the film, which I hadn't planned on.
I'll inform when the film is near completion. Thanks, chao. ;D

I have a script titled At Night They Walk Among Us, which I had once titled Dead of Night and that I showed to numerous online friends several years ago. Oddly enough, it's the exact same story as yours, almost to the letter, the only difference being that it wasn't two school friends but a teacher driving cross country with his wife. Also in mine, they come across a small, quirky little town where the denizens act oddly towards the two, so the husband and wife try to find out what secret the town holds. The dead also rose only at night in my script. I don't suppose you used to frequen Savini-Chat a few years ago, did you? Not trying to be accusatory, but this is beyond bizarre...

The idea of the dead coming out only at night, I think we've all had. I wrote a story once where the government managed to control the dead so that they only came back at night. Really poor story. One qestion still remains. What happens at dawn? Do the dead just vanish? Do they crawl back into their graves? Do they turn into rabbits? What happens?
