I really enjoyed the music score!! VERY talented composer!! I really encourage this kind of intelligence based sc-fi/horror, certainly aiming in the right direction, IMO. Cannot wait for the day when the power is taken away from people like Michael Bay.

EK...yes, I liked the score very much too. Although (as I said in my original post) I think it's over used just a bit. I don't remember a shot or scene without music. I guess I just feel that music is most effective when it chimes in at certain points rather than lays in the background constantly to the point where you, the audience, drown it out. I have the same opinion when it comes to special effects (especially gore effects). If you're movie is plastered wall to wall with them, your audience no longer cares about the effects. They don't grab you like the first effect did. I understand there are movies that base their plots points in such a way to allow for relentless gore, but I'm not really a fan of many of those kinds of movies. I think there's a far greater power in 'subtlety' than most filmmakers think. BTW...that wasn't directed at PIT...I'm a fan of this film ) Like you say, EK, with Michael Bay. If that's not a case of overusage of EVERYTHING (score, jumpshots, slo-mo, special effects, crane shots and, of course, pyro) I don't know what is.

AJ: Yeah. This is the third time I'll be shooting with 16 mm (Both the 'Longest Day" and "Jay" were shot on a Bolex), but my first attempt at going sync sound with it (using the ever lovely Arri). I envy the fact that you had one to sell (lucky enough I'm renting one for practially free). Don¡¦t get me wrong, I love HD, but in my mind 16 and 35 still have a much ¡§better¡¨ (totally opinion based) look and feel to them. The film is indeed inspired by the classic story by W.W Jacobs (while not being an adaptation of any sort, but it does have a nice homage to it). I encourage your wife to read it every year, because this was the one story that I actually remember reading from high school (10th grade in fact) that stayed with me over the years. I¡¦m hopping that when I make the switch to features that I¡¦ll be able to adapt the story. The Paw will be a short (between 12 and 18 minutes) and I have yet to decide how to distribute it. I have a few interested parties, but I don¡¦t want to get my hopes up before anything is even shot. I¡¦m aiming for a late May finish, and no matter what I¡¦ll have details on my site of how people can see it (whether it be through screenings, DVD, online¡K). ƒº Yeah, I know exactly how ya feel. I wish there were more days in the week/hours in a day to get stuff done. Way too many ideas flowing to get on the screen. The opening exteriors were shot on MiniDV, but everything else through David¡¦s walking, the convo and the end were shot on Digi8. All the in door stuff I had to light the hell out of and when you have the perfect day, outside is incredible no matter what you shoot on (for the most case ). In post we added a ¡§dream-like¡¨ filter on the flashback and when we were finished with the picture cut, we took the film from AVID to Final Cut and applied an effect/mix of filters that is supposed to make the film appear more film-like. Overall, I didn¡¦t shoot the piece on what I wanted to shoot it on, but I¡¦m happy with the final product. EK: Thanks and I fully agree, the composer is extremely talented. You can check out more of his work here: Dog On Blues. He has also posted the full uninterrupted score of fate (along with some pics of the film). But yeah, I fully agree with you guys, Hollywood has this habit of doing things just because they can. Everyone is trying to outdo the last person and then we end up with 3 new music video releases in theaters. Sinshine: Yeah, I hear what you¡¦re saying about the music and agree. This is my first project that instead of scattered songs I got an actual full score. This leads to the case of you love something so much that parts are hard to cut. I am currently doing another cut of the film (and hoping to find grants to help submit it to fests).
