Well here I am, a new member and just starting to write my own horror movie. Its called The Children of the D**ned. Its not my first movie, but it is, like I said, my first horror film. Plus it is EXTREMEMLY low budget. I have an editing program, and a video camera---and an airsoft shotgun (its a zombie movie). I started this topic so that if anyone has good suggestions for an aspiring director with a budget so low that its not funny, then they can go ahead. I am open to anything.

'lo. Check out the special effects section. I tried a few of these ideas myself. You can do some really effective gore scenes for little money and it's alot of fun to try this stuff out.

My best advice is be prepared and don't give up. I shot my first feature last summer. It was a horror film, with a budget of $600.00 On the first day of shooting, one actress dropped out and I had to recast over night. On the third day, my camera stopped working and I had to borrow my parents. Then, during post, my hard drive crashed and I had recapture all the footage and start editing again from scratch. My point is, if the movie means enough to you, finish it at all costs. And you can really learn to milk your equipment and get some proffessional results that don't look like all the other dv movies out there. To do this, always manually set your white balance, manually set your exposure, and manually set the focus. And in post, be sure to create a progressive image by blending the fields. For an example check this out: youtube.com/watch?v=sM_gyCEXCNg
