This is a really cool site, Kevin! Congratulations on finishing the project. I hope it makes it to the States.

Good luck with your movie and I should say good luck keeping your title. A film I wrote and shot was originally titled "Unseen", but some other big companies (20th Century Fox and Microsoft) challenged the title and our distributors backed down, so the US title was changed to "Unseen Evil" and the UK title was "The Unbelieveable." Oh well, it got released so I should be happy.

Actually the big companies can challenge all they want over the use of a title but they can't do anything about it. They can copyright and protect the 'design' of a title on a poster or on the film itself but they cannot copyright the words. So unless you are using their exact title design there is nothing they can do, film titles cannot be protect by law, that's like trying to copyright words in the dictionary so people would have to pay you to use them.

Didn't Richard Hatch (Apollo-Battlestar Galactica) just star in "Unseen Evil" or something to this effect?
The only reason I spotted it was because our name is Sights Unseen and it caught my eye whilst channel surfing one night.

In reply to DAD's post: That is correct, the words in titles cannot be copyrighted. HOWEVER, if Powerhouse Co. wants to challenge the use of said title in Little-Ol-Me Co.'s soon-to-be-released low-budget horror movie, they can legally do this and rack up thousands of dollars in legal expense for poor Little-Ol-Me. This explains why, when threatened with a lawsuit, many smaller firms decide to change the title. It's smarter and CHEAPER.

Yes, Richard Hatch did star in "Unseen Evil". He's a fun guy to work with. This was my 3rd project with him.
Regarding the title change, you're right a word or title cannot be copyrighted, but as the above post said, if they want to out lawyer you, then you're screwed.

Nice lookcing film, but the trailer download is not working for me. there dosent appear to be a link on the page, also perhaps you could change the format? not all of us can run real media files and not all of us want the spam associated with the program.
