I suppose the old Gamera films came out on dvd recently. Haven't seen these since I was a kid. In case y'all don't know what Gamera is, he's an extraterrestrial radioactive sabre-tooth fire-breathing 300 foot tall turtle with a jet engine shoved up his ass.
This movie is especically strange, since nearly half of it is composed of battle scenes from older Gamera films. The oddest thing about it is that they use black and white footage from the first movie and try to incorporate it into a color film!! I don't even think Ed Wood Jr. would do something like ... ok, Ed Wood probably would do something like that.
THe thing that really amused me was that even though these were films aimed at kids, they are pretty d**n violent. Gamera nearly gets his arm shot off by a laser and he gets speared in the stomach twice! There are plenty of scenes were monsters are getting their eyes ripped out and what not.
Anyway, I thought it was fairly enjoyable in an El Santos kind of way.
