Being lucky enough to live in Montreal i decided to take in this play at the just for laughs festival this summer. I was not disappointed! The writers truly did their homework and cannot be anything less than true frachise fans. To really appreciate this play it helps if you are a familiar with the series, from the S-Mart shirts the band is wearing to the plot holes and inconsistences they hold back nothing when it comes to taking a cheap shot at the movies, but it's all in good fun and nothing you wouldn't hear on the DVD comentary anyway. You do not have to be familiar with the series to enjoy it though (yes that means you can drag your friends and girlfriends along). There is enough non-referential comedy to keep even the most novice person in stiches as well as live action special effects that will leave you wondering how they pulled them off. And finally the songs...well what can i say? It's been two weeks since i went to see it and i still can't get them out of my head! With titles like "What the f*ck was that?", "Do the Necronomicon" and "All the men in my life keep getting kill by Candarian Demons" you know they have to be good. So if you haven't seen it they will be touring around the U.S. in the coming months or you can keep an eye out for the DVD (my friends and i saw a film crew so we're pretty sure they will release one). for more info and pictures goto www.evildeadthemusical.com
