This doesn't even warrent a real review, so please excuse the ranting!
SPOILERS!
Grindhouse was a steaming pile of sh*t! It showed me that other filmmakers are much more talented than Robert Rodrigez and the everyone's favorite ego-maniac Tarentino. The trailers were a far better representation of 70's and 80's B movie fare. Planet Terror was muddled and stupid, and that gun leg will go down in history as the most retarded thing I have ever witnessed in a film. The only saving grace of the film was Tom Savini and Michael Biehn (Hicks from Aliens). It had some good gore, especially the wonderful squibs, but most of the sh*t was CG. I expected better from KNB. The stlye was dead on 80's B-Movie though, and I think they shot it perfectly to compliment this. The missing Reel joke was gut bustingly hilarious as well. This was the better of the 2 movies.
Deathproof made me want to leave the theater. Some of the audience did, and I would have followed if I didn't fork over $9 d**n dollars to see it! I mean, I expected crap, but this blew me away. It was to date the worst movie I have ever seen, and I've seen a whole lotta sh*tty movies. It was roughly 50 minutes of dialogue and then a lame ass car chase. The dialogue was gringe inducing, and not funny or interesting at all. They need to stop Tarentino from making more films. It's ironic that he is the worst part of both movies, his film sucked and his lame ass cameo did too! The only good part of Deathproof was Eli Roth and Kurt Russel. Though in defense of the movie, it did manage to capture the style of a 70's flick perfectly.
"Thanksgiving", "Werewolf Woman of the SS" and "Don't" were much better representations of the films of the time, they were alo much more enjoyable.
Don't see this movie, just download the trailers!

I think if you are a huge, drooling fan of 70s exploitation, you have to accept it for what it is. And this seems far removed from anything I would even remotely associate with Grindhouse in any way. But I'm going to check it out. I do like Tarentino myself. Rodriguez ... well, I enjoyed his first film. It was a real testament to what a creative director can do with a minimal budget. Everything else he's been involved with since with the exception of Sin City has been pretty terrible.

Well I gotta say man I think your way off on your review of the Grindhouse movie....first off you can never truly catch the feeling of being in a Grindhouse theater watching movies of the time(that is unless you go and find a theater with bums, druggies, pimps, pushers and wh**es and have to worry about what you may get stuck with or if youll be robbed and stabbed....not to mention the smell of human urine) With that being said I think both fims were great and had a certain feel we dont get at a theater anymore. Would you rather the keep releasing these safe pg-13 teenybopper safe horror flicks??? I think not. This movie is what we all want unsafe crazy a** balls to the wall action and horror. As far as your comment about Eli Roth....are you crazy? That guy couldnt act his way out of a wet paper bag......and thats not even saying anything about his "directing" skills. If you want the normal everyday horror film thats been done a million times and better......than dont go see this film just go and see the newest grudge or I know what you did last summer. If you want balls out horror and mayhem than go see it.

I'm all for hardcore horror flicks to be released, but this is hardly the film to pioneer new age exploitation into the mainstream! I really the mainstream horror films that have been released in the past few years, and wouldn't even dream of going to see a PG-13 ghost movie. I rarely go to the movies anymore and this film is the reason why. I hated this movie because I have such a great respect and love for old exploitation films. It was like a slap to the face seeing 80's splatter combined with japanese anime style action! Eli Roth is a funny guy, he may not be the best actor, but neither were the main characters of "Death Proof". If I want to see a good movie, I dig through my dvd collection for something made before 1993. Quetin Tarentino and Robert Rodrigez should stick to bastardizing westerns and japanese action films, not old school horror.

See but thats my point.......I dont wanna see those great films from the 70's and early 80's redone as I can just go into my DVD collection to watch those. My point on this is they can never recreate those types of movies and no one ever will as its impossible. That was an era where filmmakers were able to do whatever they wanted and there was a market for them....the day and age we live in now you could never make a movie like back then because its too much of a buisness and too much money is involved in it ( as well as the fact all those great cinemas and drive ins are a thing of the past) now all you have is multiplexes that show big budget films that if your lucky are there more than a month. I think what they did is bring the whole homage to that era and update it.......its not the same old sh*t and its playing in the same theaters that are showing Die hard 206 and Saw 12. What they did is bring an intrest into these types of movies and now that its proven they can make money well see more of this type in theaters (of course not like the old days as they will be slicker and involve bigger stars). In fact they are already in talks to make the film based on Rob Zombies trailer Werewolf women of the SS! I welcome it and hope to see more like this than the average film released nowadays or god forbid more d**n remakes off movies I loved. And of course Ill be doing the same thing and going home and watching my great collection of cult and exploitation dvds and wishing they were doing these movies in this day and age the way they did em back then.......the unfortunate reality of it though is we will never be able to relive those except for watching em on those DVDs.

I thought the trailers that amature filmmakers submitted to the southwest film festival were really unique and looked better than anything I've seen from the actual Grindhouse film- which I'm still planning on seeing, and I don't go to the movies much anymore either.

Touche SaviniFan. I agree, but I still didn't like the movie. I welcome the Werewolf Woman of the SS feature length, that was my favorite trialer and I think the one that captured the esence the best, it's a toss up between that and Thanksgiving. Let's just hope that cinema isn't nearly as doomed as I fear, and that indie horror can deliver the hardcore gruesome gore that Hollywood is too afriad to release!

Ok..I'm going to lay this out so everyone reading this can understand your dislike for grindhouse. EXPECTATIONS!!!!!! Yes! It wasn't a New Groundbreaking thing to the slasher/horror scene but It's a tribute. ROB and QT explained that over and over and over again. It's to give the feel of how run down theaters used to be like and they tried to share that was us. Now Death Proof did get a little boreing...but thats character building scenes to get you to care about these girls...It's just a shame most people cant sit through a film without an explosion every five minutes. People like that are the reason why film is losing It's flare because we all have High Expectations for any film dealing with big directors or actors. We as humans go to the movies to escape our lives to enjoy a story. Hell Planet Terror reminded me of all my classic favorites with El Ray's and Cherry's love story. Old School there people! So my point is if ya rent it and not judge but try to enjoy...you might just get something nice from it.
5 out of 5 stars for me...GRINDHOUSE 2...Cant Wait!
