Thanks to all that visited my site (below) and commented. I am taking notes because what you say means a lot to me. I am new at this and far too close to story, cast and pretty much everything else. I am blinded by the project. So, maybe I had better explain better what I am going for on the website. First - Jack Ripley is not a 'real person'. Secondly, the site is temporary. A work in progress -- not ready yet for prime time.
'haunt' is two stories entertwined. The 'reality' portion is about Jack Ripley who wants to make this movie titled 'haunt' and 'haunt' the movie he is making. The reality portion is shot in DVcam digital (full screen and color) the movie is 'film' (letterboxed and black & white). As the 'reality' of making the movie progresses so does the movie. The parallel storyline blends and develops the actors and the characters they portray. Jack Ripley's character gets lost, dissolves and envies the persona and situation of the character he created -- John Stone. The actors have personality traits that drain the sanity, creativity and life out of old Jack. The movie starts to become a 'wishful' reality with dire consequnces.
The goal of the website was not so much to sell 'haunt' on the internet at this time (though we can) but to add information for our DVD which is currently being marketed for distribution purposes. Sort of giving notice and adding information (think Blair Witch, Session 9, The Godsend etc. etc.).
Heidi and other filmmakers (that visit or help with this forum/site) have seen various edited versions of the movie. I thank them a thousand times over. We have made over 20 different versions of 'haunt' -- to find out what works and what doesn't and why. They have offered many great suggestions -- some we have used. Our goal was to tell the story in the most direct way possible. Trying to get it lean and keep the pace fast. I am more interested in 'learning' about making a quality movie then just marketing it. Most of the cast want to become better actors and several are now into writing and directing their own projects.
Having said that-- we want the reader of the website and the viewer of 'haunt' to look at Jack in his unique situation with a sympathetic eye and at the same time not give the ending away. The notes from his audition does play into the story and the character synopsis adds to the depth beyond what is in the movie(we are planning to include the 'cast' page -- with additional cast members -- to the DVD insert and on the DVD -- live action sequences and interviews-- as an extra).
We have not put up stills (gallery), artwork of 'haunt', music of 'haunt', Lucy Fear's haunted house locations & tours or any of the kickers (hooks).
We are trying to get the front end right -- first --and then build on that. Please feel free to E-mail me your thoughts and questions? I really appreciate it. The cast does too. Thank you. I apoligize for any misspelling or bad grammer...
