I've written one screenplay before.. a teen slasher along the lines of scream, but thats about it.
Anyway my new idea revolves around dreams. In the past few months I havn't been able to get rested, because my dreams felt too real to me. No matter how much I slept it felt like I had been up all night running around, even tho it was just a dream. And I could never tell that I was dreaming, always felt real to me.
Now I thought of wriitng about the extreme of this.. someone really can't tell the difference between real life and their dreams. No matter how horrific things get in their dreams they still don't have the mental control to realize that it is a dream. It's more of a psyhcological horror but basically could pay homage to any type of horror, as the dreams can be about almost anything. Eventually the person would go completely mad, and not be able to tell the difference between what is real and what is not real and that would have some severe consequences.
Let me know what you think of the idea. -Ryan

Hello Ryan welcome to the site. I for one think you have a very interested story there and like to see how you can adapt it to film. It's a good start but i would need more info to fully understand the story. So i think you should go ahead and write the screenplay and maybe have one of screenwriters on this board read it and give you an honest critique.

I think that's a great idea for a film --- if the screenplay is up to par. Nevertheless, it sounds very promising! Good luck, Ryan!

Sounds good. But isn't this sort of like Nightmare on elm street?

Wasn't there a Stephen King novel/movie a bit like this?
Can't remeber what it was called, about an author who dreams he is in his books... or something.

I think what you are refering to is "Into the Mouth of Madness" where the authors books began to take on a reality all their own and began writing themselves.
