Help needed...

I planned on finishing this script by tomorrow night, but I don't think it's gonna happen. However I do plan on finishing it by Wedensday, the day school starts. As I've said this is a money raiser for Poison Oak. I'm having a lotta trouble figuring out just what the "enemy" is in this story. Here's what I have so far:

It opens on a country road in the country in an old store. After a few shots of a car speeding down the road, a blood soaked man runs into the store. The owner freaks out, the man seems to be going insane and in desperation he locks the man in the backroom.

Cut to a group of 20-somethings on a scavanger hunt. Something they need is at the old store, and eventually they arrive there. After finding what they need, they discover the body. The owner insists he didn't kill the man, but the kids don't believe him. Finally the owner pulls a gun on the kids and they run outta the store. After some driving, we cut back to the store. It's closing time and the owner plans on driving the body into town. However the man is not dead, and forces the owner to shoot him.

Cut back to the group, up ahead they see another blood soaked body lying in the middle of the road. Either they swerve off the road, or "something" makes the car act like crap. Either way they are stalled. One of them decides to hike back to the store for help, since he figures the man has left by now. When he arrives, he finds the man's body, and the owner's body, who shot himself.

Here's where I'm stuck, I just don't know what the "enemy" should be. Zombies? Meh, that's been done so often. This is NOT gonna be a slasher, I'll tell you that right now lol.

Any suggestions?

That could work too if done right. I was also thinking what if the woods themselves came alive? What if the store he was hiding out in came alive? But somehow make it "un-Evil Dead." Maybe that could work?

maybe go for the cabin fever idea, something in the woods has infected the innocent hikers, this virus makes peoples skin blister up and drives them crazy through the itching etc. maybe when the kids find the body in the store one of them can come in contact with it by accident, as they are trying to get away they find the other body in the road, theyre scared but dont realise that whatever is causing this mystery illness is slowly working its way around them. some of the kids could go crazy sorta like in the thing trying to make sure they dont get infected, go for the paranoia approach.
