I am the published author of four books, BLOOD POETS (volumes 1 & 2, University Press of America), MATRIX WARRIOR (Orion in UK, St. Martin's Press in US), and recently DOGVILLE VS HOLLYWOOD (Marion Boyars, UK). All these books are currently in print.
The Keepers is an adult treatment of the oldest and most enduring horror mythos of all, with some plum roles for actors and a minimum of SFX, the focus being on character and suspense. My aim has been to treat the subject matter of the Nosferatu seriously, using research into occult lore to bring the fantastic into the realm of the plausible—similar to Alan Moore’s approach to superheroes with Watchmen, or Frank Miller’s treatment of Batman in Dark Knight. The script also has an ecological subtext, in that it is humanity’s destructive, parasitical treatment of the natural world that has demanded the Earth’s “justice” as embodied by the Nosferatu, who are the original inhabitants of the planet.
My take is simple: what if Vampires are real?
This movie is the first part of the answer.
It is an urban horror story in which the lives of various ordinary people are transformed by an encounter with an ancient Master Race of nonhuman beings (“Vampires”) who keep the balance between Nature and humans. A wholly original treatment of the sub-genre, it is informed with a thorough knowledge of the occult and an emphasis on pyschology and character. I think of it as BLADE meets BLUE VELVET. JACOB'S LADDER might also be a useful point of reference.
It has a great lead role for an actor willing to explore darker areas of his psyche: a young (ish) man whose taste for violent porn opens the doors of his psyche to demonic influence.
This is not as big budget as it may sound, as I focus on several human characters who uncover the truth as much as on the Vampires. Some amount of CGI effects might be needed, however. Either that or a very talented director in the style of early Polanski or Lynch! This is definitely a character piece. I have assembled an extensive mythology of The keepers/Nosferatu/Vampires, which will be developed gradually in the script, and any sequels I may wind up writing.
I think this movie could be done right for as little as $4 m. But that is just a guess. It certainly needs some effects, but not a great deal, some costumes, and at least one elaborate set. It also needs some serious actors and a director with vision.
The script is presently registered with WGA and copyrighted.
I am willing at this time to sell the script cheaply, with a presidio for additional payment if and when the film is produced. Full treatment or script (registered with WGA) can be sent on request, by email, homoplasmate@yahoo.com

Logline for The Keepers: A young man meets a mysterious, seductive Vampire who claims to know him from a previous life; a psychologist possessed by demonic intelligence embarks on a series of grisly blood sacrifices; two teenage “vampires” discover an underground lair and encounter ancient supernatural beings. Three tales converge in a horrific climax.
