I'm sure theirs quite a few independent filmmakers on this site. I was surfing the web last night, and I stumbled across this site: www.cutthroatfilms.comThey're just starting out, but they have this program that is really cool for indie filmmakers such as myself. Basically, you pay either 5 or 10 dollars depending on the length of your film. This buys you into their database, and gets you your own personal page on their site which includes an editor review of your film. From there, they actually put your film up for sale on their site. And you get 25% of your film's sales. Lilke their site says, if you pay 10 dollars, your film only has to be sold 4 times at 10 dollars to make your initial investment back. Personally, I'm going to submit one or two of my films into the database today. I've got films sitting around doing nothing so I figure if they can provide a venue for people to see my film, and a link so potential future investors can check out the page on my film, I'll gladly part with 5 or 10 bucks. I figure I can make my money back with no problem seeing as it's only a one time payment. Furthermore, I like the fact that theirs a site where I can actually go check out other indie films that look good. Theirs really a lack of places to go to see true independent films. So, for any indie filmmakers here who want to have a venue for their films, and have the chance to make money, come check it out. Later guys.

You're better off saving your $10 and making your own website. I checked out the site, they have ONE film on it and it's a 10 min short. I highly doubt you'll get much promotion of your film out of it and probably unlikely to sell 4 copies to make back your investment. If you do, chances are it'll be from customers you directed there via your own marketing.

also, that percentage is ridiculous. most stores, if they'll take your movie on consignment have anywhere from a 60/40 to a 90/10 split on profits, the majority going to YOU. at least, that's what i've heard. why should someone make 75% of your money just for sticking it up there? you're the one who worked the hardest on it.

50/50 is a more likely split with a distributor. Don't forget there are all kinds of costs involved - Duplication, Packaging, Advertising, Shipping... etc.

I would think that 50/50 would be after the expenses are paid.
