You mean with a knife or stake stuck in them?
If so, which area of the body?
If not, what exactly do you mean?

If you're talking about showing the knife or stake already in the chest, you need to make an appliance makeup of a false chest with the knife in it and attache that to the actor. If you are talking about actually showing the blade piercing the chest, it can be done with a fake knife that the blade retracts into the handle or a fake chest that you actually stab into. Of course, you always have the option of actually stabbing the actor too but sometimes they get a little testy about that. :-)
Next question ... is it a naked chest or one with a shirt on? You can hide a whole lot of things with a loose shirt.

If it is just and attached stake, I will assume to a naked chest, you are best to make a casting of the chest in plaster and then make a plaster positive of the persons chest to sculpt the punture wound on so the that the stake has a mounting wound. Be sure to build up a fairly large wound area say on the sternum between the breasts that is about an 1/8 inch thick. This will allow you to place a small disk of wood or metal behind the appliance to attach the stake too. After you have the wound sculpted, pour a plaster casting of the wound. You will probably want to cast a fairly large mold so that you can make the appliance fairly big (makes it easier to attach and more stable during filming). After you have the plaster mold of the wound cast, clean the mold of any clay that is stuck in it and patch any air bubbles with a real soupy batch of plaster. After the mold is cleaned and air holes patched, seal the mold with spray paint. Use a neutral color as the paint may peal off into the latex positive that you will make from the mold. Now you can make the positive of the wound appliance by simply painting flesh tone liquid latex into the mold until you have a fairly thick layer of latex filling the mold and tapering out to a thin edge. When the latex is thing enough, dust the latex with powder and carefully peal it from the mold powdering the edges as you pull it from the mold (latex sticks to itself so be very careful). Now you can mount the stake to the wound using a small wood or metal disk on the back side of the appliance. Attaching the appliance can be done with medical adhesives or just using liquid latex. If you use latex, paint the area of the chest where it will be mounted with latex and paint the back side of the appliance. Let both dry and then place the appliance where it belongs pressing the two layers of raw latex together. Blend the edges to the chest using flesh toned latex. Dust the appliance with powder and apply additional makeup and blood to finish. It is recommended that you use a very light wood for the stake, something like balsa wood, so that the weight of the stake doesn't have a tendancy to pull the appliance loose.
All in all it is fairly simple to do and is one of the easier appliance makeups for someone to try and tackle. Have fun and experiment. The same process can be used for knives except the method of mounting the knife is a little trickier.

you could get a cut off knife and attach it with some prosthetics and/or blood.
