I dunno man it totally varies. I love indy movies - the charm and interest they generate is phenomenal. But, sometimes, you just want a big bucks thrill ride like Spider-Man 2 or Face/Off. I can't imagine why anyone would choose no movies at all.... but the budget doesn't always determine what a film is going to be like - Pulp Fiction, my favourite movie, had the not-exactly-low budget of $8million. When you look at the film, you can see that it could have been made for one million if they used lesser known actors and some of the sets weren't as grand. This film puts its budget to use and comes out with an indy-style movie. One again, Pulp Fiction rules all...

Yeah, but nowadays when you say mainstream its stuff like the matrix and spiderman 2 like u said. I will always go for indies because i think you can get better results from an independant film because its made from the heart but with mainstream i think you are limited and most often they are made for money not enjoyment or pure film dedication.

Yeah...one of my greatest fears about being a professional film maker is writing a great script and then striking a killer deal with a major studio....and then their 'adjustments' come into play. I hate it when a film maker is forced to completely change or destroy their films just to suit what the studio thinks an audience will like. Independant films give you much more freedom, but usually at the cost of smaller distribution area.

I don't know if you've got the texas chainsaw massacre 3 on dvd but if you watch the documentary it tells you how the director (Jeff Burr) didn't have the freedom to direct because of newline cinema.Jeff Burr was actually fired and because they couldn't get another director, they hired him again.
