Has anyone ever used metamucil to make slime? The recipe says that it will not be sticky... I need sticky! that is what makes slime slimy.

I followed the recipe for the metamucil slime and it worked pretty well. There are ways to make it stickier Im sure. I had limited success with mixtures that contained elmers glue or corn syrup. I am considering adding spirit gum. The reason I am looking for a stickier slime is to have the stretchy stings like you see in a troma movie when someones arm gets torn off, but it is true... real ultraslime is not worth the money in a microbudget movie.

mix 1 tablesp**n of metamucil with 1 cup of water. cook it in the microwave for about 5 minutes more or less depending on how thick you want it. Add food color for the desired color and shake it up in a jar. Metamucil can be kind of expensive. I used the walmart brand and it worked just as well. use elmers glue or corn syrup for stickiness and remember metamucil is a laxative so you dont want to eat this slime!

Using metamucil, might give undesirable effects on your actors and though you keep it away from their mouth you might find some delays in shooting. this holds true for unedible and toxic materials. The great thing about slime is most people want to cover their actors in it.
premade <pick your color> Jello and corn syrup. The only problem with elmers glue (other than it becoming crusty) is most times when people want slime they want it to be a bit translucent. Once you made the jello leave it out for a bit so it becomes room tempurture. Hand mixing it works best. But basically messing around with it until you get the desired consistancy is the best was to go.
This is very sticky, messy, good tasting (though I dont recomend eating it), but works great coming out of a persons mouth.
you could also add a small amount of brown sugar for dirt speck inside. Though I've known some film companies that actually use dirt.

there really isnt a problem with getting metamucil all over actors or in their mouths. You just dont want them swallowing it. It definitely has different physical properties than the gelatin method. neither are exactly like ultraslime. I suppose it depends on your preference.
