I am trying to figure out a good way to create a realistic trickle of blood from an actors ear without having to cut out and place it there....something that an actor could trigger themselves? help!!

I suppose a trickle isnt so hard. Have the actor put in ear plugs (maybe even cut them in half so they are less noticable) and then administer a few drops and let gravity do the rest. this might require some persuasive camera angles, but I think it would look okay for just a trickle. However, if you need more blood than that a refer you to a scene in 'class of nuke em high' when a nerd has a toxic meltdown. he had tubes that would squirt green gunk profusely from his ears. The did this by hiding the tubes in his sideburns I think. either that or his glasses, but it was effective.

for just a trickle, you could always use an eye dropper and put a drop of blood on the ear. Just make sure you have an ear wash handy.
