I'm going to use alot of the suggestions posted on this board to create a melting man. Ultraslime, lots of the stuff Mommy's Little Monster posted will go into this. I was wondering if there is a way to make the liquid flesh boil as though it were really burning?

i was told to check out the old Rick Baker effects from Incredible Melting Man. Heard this movie was pure pain to sit through.

oh, what are you using to achieve your effects? With me, I have a corpse basically and after its head gets knocked off, it begins to melt. Were using the ultraslime recipe, blood, we are making a rod puppet torso so the guy will still be moving as he melts away .. oh yeah, smoke bombs!

Incredible melting man is a very disgusting moviel for its time! Definitely a good reference . Incidentally, I am using a rod puppet as well. One of his arms is cable controlled and the other is skeletal with just a rod control and a wire bendable hand. One eye moves back and forth with a cable control and the other is just a socket that lights up. He has a moving jaw that works like a ventruiliquist puppet. He also has a pulsating brain and a tube in his throat to make him barf. OUr guy in the movie is a little backwards.... he gets completely melted and then materializes from the dead. Kind of a reverse elt effect. anyhow he will still be gross. I will post pics when he is done.

we are using a lot of bladders and slime. I use metamucil for slime because it requires very little time and ingredients. For the beginning stages of the acid burn I am using alka-seltzer combined with make-up effects. What I do is crush up a whole crapload of tablets and apply the powder to the face of the actor with spirit gum. then just spray a little colored water with a spritzer and you get some pretty good fizzlings.

well if the flesh is already melted than you can you a close-up shot in a really large sauce pan and just put the gelatine on the stove. It will begin to boil after a while. You can even start with solid gelatine and film it while it melts.

It takes a lot of alka-seltzer, but the cheap brand is only $2 dollars a box. Its cool too because the spirit gum doesn't even cause the alka-seltzer to fizzle before you spray the water on. I am glad you like that effect!

alka selzer have to try that.. i always hated the taste now ive found a use for it..
also what i found is yougurt is a cool body fluid..as fo melting i use knox for the skin in one of my molds. use a heat gun or hair dryer..because when it melts it gets stringy. psyco
