what was the last really awesome, ridiculous or gross special effect you saw in a horror movie? The one that stands out for me is the scene in Killer Nerd where the nerd straps dynamite to the bullies head and blasts him. It was really funny because they show the fake head for too long and you have time to notice how silly it looks.

I recently saw 'Aliens' and I loved the part at the end where Bishop was ripped in half - it just kinda didn't hold back with what you saw, and you can't say it didn't look realistic because no one knows how easily a robot would come apart.
I also loved that classic scene in 'Alien' where the alien bursts out of John Hurt's stomach. That thing just came out and was like 'check me out, y'all. I'm a mean green mother from outta space and I'm bad!'

recent? I suppose the opening scene with the fire extinguish to the head in .... d**n, don't remember the name of the film. The film plays backwards, like momento. I'm sure someone hear knows what I'm talking about .. hopefully.
um .. older films ... always remembered the head exploding in Scanners. There is also a great scene in Day of the Dead where a guy is being pulled apart. His vocal chords stretch and his voice gets higher ... great attention to detail.

The most ridiculous special effect I have seen is in Dr Butcher MD (aka Zombie Holocaust) when a guy gets chucked off a building and you see this dummy fall off and land, it's arm ripped off. In the next shot you can clearly see the arm back on again. In the same film, there's a good bit where a zombie's head gets shredded by an outboard motor.

I love that scene in the toxic avenger part 2 the full uncut version where toxie squeezes that guy in the wheel chair and his guts fall out of his belly. Its not he goriest i've seen but it was great. ;D

What about the part in Toxic avenger 4 when they run over the old womans head and she poops all over the place? That is just messed up! I dont know why Lloyd hates Toxie part 2 and 3 so much. I like those movies a lot.

Yeah i know, i saw part 2 and 3 sensored first, then i grabbed hold of the uncut versions and i loved them even more but citezen toxie kicked ass. The diaper mafia leader getting dissembowled was excellent!!!

The last scene in a movie I saw that grossed me out was probably in Cabin Fever where he is lying next to his girlfriend and , um, "pleasing" her and then when he pulls his hand up it is all covered in meat and blood because her pelvic area was rotting away.  Not the best of movies, but I thought that it was pretty sick! ;D |

dead alive where the ass kicking priest rips off the greaser's arm and beats him for a while...
how about lionel chopping zombies up with his lawnmower... a whole room full

the kids head being squashed by the car in the uncut, original toxie.
a crucifix being impaled through the mouth of "mayor" ron jeremy in citizen toxie. heck, any effect in this movie is tromariffic!
the guy blowing his head off in cabin fever, beautiful guacomole work.
one of my all time favourites has to be friday the 13th part IV, when corey feldman hacks the machette into jasons head, then he falls on it, and his head slides down the big-ass knife! we love you, tom savini.

brain eater, "dead alive" ? unless it was called different where you live, dont you mean "braindead" that film on the whole kicks ass for effects, i love the bit with lionels uncle when he runs out of the shed and sticks the shears in the zombies mouth, then cuts it in half lol, great stuff, cheesey but d**n enjoyable, oh and then he sticks a gnome in the zombies head stump, hilarious stuff.
As for annoying special effects, alien vs predator, the bit where she has the aliens head on her arm, it keeps switching arms, dissapears altogether then reapears, and the fact that she gives that gun to the guy who is entombed... he kills himself with the last bullet, even tho that same gun had been emptied in a previous scene, great stuff, well if you have money to burn i suppose...
