I've been commisioned to make a bust of king tut and i thought instead of try to find a good quality paint to make it look like gold i could cold-cast it. Does anybody know how to achieve this. I know the basic technique but do i have to actually use gold dust or is there a product out ther specifically made for this that would be cheaper? also what is the ratio of gold powder to plaster? Thanks.

if you are making a solid gold paster positive - bronze powder by Merion is probably the cheapest way to go, the mix will be 1 to 1. I would recommend doing a layer of regular paster for the inside and use the gold plaster to cover the rest, this will help when sculpting the detail and be cheaper on your wallet.
other than making up the plastr bust of Tut's head and then buy gold leaf paint or use the bronze powder to paint the outside. Gold leaf paint will probably give you the best shine and will be easier to polish.
