Hi all,
I am new here and I was wondering if you could help me with an efect that has been on my mind for a while now.
In the movie I am making at the moment with a friend of mine, there is a scene where I have to bite a chunk out of the heroine's neck. How would you reccomend we make up her neck so it looks as though this has happened.
Thank you so much for any assistance!

Doing the bite can be done in 2 parts. the first part is the basic put a small blood pack (there a pill that disolves) put your mouth (showing the fangs touching the skin) in the bite area once your lips are on the neck force the blood out, this will also give you the teeth sinking in effect.
the second part is the chunk - this would require stoping the camera and applying the prosthetic to the victims neck. there are plenty of abrasions that you can buy for this - though I would recomend having a custom one created that fits your mouth to the neck.
once applied and blended to your victims neck fill your mouth with your blood mix (add in things like smashed up pears without skin). put your mouth back against the neck of the victim and then release - close your mouth quickly but push as much of the blood mix out. looks grosome and if you have a good cameraman this will do the trick and look great for your film.

Thanks, that's a really great idea. I like the whole idea of the pears for chunks of meat. It will come out quite nicely, methinks. Thank you very much!

Yeah, what he said is dead on pretty much. WHat type of materials do you have at your leisure? Get ahold of some Knox unflavored gelatin...every supermarket has it. Start playing around making wounds with that. You can get the edges to blend great with some witchhazel and its easy acceess.
