I cannot seem to find ANY stores ANYWHERE around where I live (Oakville Ontario) that sell realistic looking plastic/rubber weapons...or blank guns.
Anyone have some websites?
I managed to find a machette, but it's WAY too thick and didn't look real at all..even after spraypainting it I was still a bit disapointed.

I wouldn't mess around with blank guns, they are pretty dangerous. If you are really looking to make an investment you can buy to pretty realistic looking bb guns at any army surplus. Then make a silicone mold of them and you can make as many replicas as you want. To get silicone you can order it from sculpture supply canada (http://www.sculpturesupply.com/). Or you can take a trip down yourself, just hop on the bloor-danforth line down in T.O. and take it to kipling station. It very close to there (check the website for detail instructions on how to get there. Wish i had those when i got lost in the pouring rain trying to look for this place). They used to have a large elephant sculpture outside, they probably still do so i don't think you can miss it. At any rate, you'll want to buy some mold max 30 silicone and some task plastic (both smooth-on products). Sorry i can't help you out with any websites but ever since 9/11, unless you have the proper permits (which can be a b*tch to get) it is practially impossible to get prop guns in Canada, and if there are any candaian sites that sell them, haven't found 'em.
As for knife and the like the easiest thing to do is to get some flat bar metal, 3/8" thick. Then cut out any knife desing you wish and get to work grinding it into a knife shape. It's hard work but you get to keep it so you can invest some time in making some different designs and then use them whenever you need them in whatever movie you happen to be doing.

I didn't know that about the blank guns, thanks.
As for using metal for knives...no.. I want them to be plastic, or else I am afraid they will be too dangerous...

If you want to make plastic knives you can pour some of that task plastic into a mold to obtain a flat plastic bar and shape it into a knife shape using sand paper (a table top belt sander works best). i wouldn't recomend making a mold of a knife as the plastic has a hard time finding its way into the thing edge part of the mold.
I mentioned the metal knives because trying to paint plastic to look like real metal never really works all that well. If you ever see any kind of weird looking knife in a movie it's usually made of metal, just that it is made to not be sharp.

Hi, i know a website that sells hallowen props and such. you can find fake knives, make up, latex, and most important of all, body parts. www.Chamberofhorrors.comalso for realistic looking guns, we use airsoft guns. They are almost exact replica's of real guns but they shoot plastic bbs. All you have to do is paint or break off the orange tip. they are available at almost any sporting goods store or K-mart. ill try to find a website and post the link. -mike

Airsoft guns with a few modifications can look real enough. I've used mine in a few shorts I've done and they look very convincing.
