...anyone attempt this before? I'm currently writing a short that includes a transformation scene and was curious if anyone here has (or knows of someone who has) attempted this elaborate effect before and how they went about doing it.
I've read plenty of articles and such about how the pros have done it, but I'm curious about it from a low budget standpoint.

Usually, just shoot a few frames of each shot of the warewolf transforming. Most non-digital camera have an option where you can record only for 1/5, 1/4, or 1/2 a second. I'd say choose one of those. If it's digital, you can shorten each shot to a few frames with Windows Movie Maker.
Hope this helps!

Thanks, CTF! I hadn't thought of that. It is a good idea, although I would rather just use a series of cut-aways and some elaborate make-up effects (rather than an on-screen camera trick). It's those make-up effects that I'm curious about. Has anyone shot these 'stages' of the metamorphosis? What make-up effects did you use?

In that case, I'm not to sure. Some great flicks I'd recommend for tips are the Ginger Snaps trilogy - great effects. And Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban has some pretty neat warewolf transformation.

Hey there, what's the latest on your project? I'm planning to do a werewolf movie myself, so I'm curious to see how you progressed with that script. Thanks.

Actually, Markone, I'm still fleshing out this and other horror shorts on paper. I'm hoping to put together a series of 'Tales From the Darkside' - Like shorts...one of which involving a werewolf.
Of course, I'm still looking for any suggestions as far as transformation make-up effects.

If you take a pic of before the morph and one after and google a cheap photo morphing tool you could make it so prob. I used one to make a baby morph into a grown woman
