Hey guys, i need help again, I have an idea for a kill, but i have little idea on how to do it. What I want to do is take a shovl, slide it up the girls neck to her jaw, then rip her jaw out from back to front. And i want you to be able to see it all. (like the jaw bone slide through the skin then rip out.)
I know its a little much for low-budget, actually i know its a lot for low-budget, but imagine how sweet it would be! So any ideas on how to achieve it please we need the help.

You might try it in steps. Show the shovel going up to the actresses jaw/neck. Have another shovel that is cut out so that when placed in the same place it looks like it is embedded in her throat Finally, a fake head with the shovel pulling the jaw off. It would not be hard, but it would cost a bit in making a bust her head and a fake jaw to rip off. Latex skin would be easy and look cool while being ripped off. We did a similar sort of appendige ripping in our current film. To show everything and make it look fluid would probably be done in big budget films all on the computer. I don't know if this helps or not, but it would be one approach I might take. Of course you can greenscreen too, if you know how to do that. Good Luck

There is no way I can see doing this effect for under 2 grand and to make it look good. Three factors that will play: 1. you need an awesome lifecaster - so you aren't wasting to much material recreating the actress' head - this would involve a complete bust made out of resin and rubber. the jaw line would have to reconstruted from the inside out and the rubber would have to have a weaken zone plus blood packs.
2. you would have to have a make-up artist do the flesh tones for the bust to match your actress. If the actress is doing her own make-up it would be easier for her to do the make-up on the bust.
3. It would probably be easier to wig the actress and use the same wig on the bust, otherwise you need to get a wig-person you punch the hair that matches your actress'.
I would recommend using different people each of these jobs and probably people who specialize in each area. if you are lucky some people you can get for a great price - don't use your friend (unless you really hate them). The material cost is what is going to kill ya.
