surgical cuts

I'm soon going to be shooting a scene where my actor has his foot cut from the heel up wards and i want everything to be as real as possible ,what i don't know is that if this was real would blood pour from the foot, spurt out or just drip ? can anyone help me out on this?

If the cut hit a vein, it would definitly spurt. I would go with a few spurts followed by some oozing. When you do the spurts, be sure to wait a few seconds between each one to make it seem as though the blood is coming out as his heart pumps it.
