Hey, I am making a Jack the Ripper drama for a Film Festival, and need to film scenes of throat cutting and disembowelment (is that spelt right).
For the disembowelment I am going to a butcher for pig guts but how do I make a realistic life size corpse, and what materials would I need.
And also, how would I do a scene of a throat being cut.
Being 13 I am making this film as low budget as possible.
Thanks in advance for the help.

I wouldn't try to make a corpse if it's for the disembowelment, make a chest cavity out of a garbage bag, attacth it to the actor and stuff it full of guts and blood. As for the throat cutting, use latex and toilet paper to bulid the wound, hide some blood tubing in it and pump away. Again, if this is no-budget, don't try to show the throat cut. Have the killer slash at the actor and cut to his face being sprayed with blood, then cut to the bloody neck.

ok cheers man, but two things, A)how would I make the chest cavity, and also not show the black bin liner and B)where can I purchase latex.
Also, I saw in the making of Final Destination 3 that for the tanning bed scene where to girls were set on fire, they used fire retardant gel, does anyone have a recipe for this or advice as to where I can buy it?
Thanks

Duct-tape the bag to the actor, underneath the shirt and then cover it up. Precut the bag and tape the edges to the insdie of the pre-cut shirt. When everything is covered in blood, the bag won't stand out and will give the illusion of depth in the chest cavity. Try stuffing his shirt with some pillow stuffing for his earilier scens, so when he has the garbage bag on he doesn't look any fatter. You can get latex at any halloween store for under $5, try thechamberofhorrors.com, they have quick shipping, or try store.cinemasecretsonline.com/halloween-fx-latex.html. As for the fire retardent gel, don't. I'm pretty sure you need to be a licensed pyro-tech in order to buy it not to mention Fire is much too dangerous to fuck around with unless your a trained pro, especially if there are live actors in the scene too. You can get into loads of trouble for screwing with fire, and more importatnly you may hurt one of your actors or yourself.
