Im not shooting this yet, and probably wont for another month or so, but the end calls for the bad guy to get stabbed clean through the stomache and then the sword gets pulled out. I can understand if it can't be done as one whole scene, but if there is any way possible while staying under $20-$30 dollars or so, I would really like it if it could be one scene with the stabbing and pulling out the sword

Thanx a lot! This is the second time you've helped me. Shortly after posting the thread, I found another one, where you told the guy how to stab a pitchfork into a man's chest. This idea, you gave me would work well too, but I liked the one on the pitchfork thread a little better, where you press into stomach, pull away fast, reverse. See it stabbed into fake torso w'blood packets, and pulled out, and it's done! again, very similar to the shovel one, but the thing about that, is if I put the sword in the fake torso, and pull it out, and reverse the footage, then how do I have blood come out of the wound w/o having it in the shot before the guy gets stabbed? U no what I mean? That's why7 I think i should have it actually stab into the fake torso, and not pull it out and reverse it. What's your say in the matter? Thnx for the help again, tho.

No problem, I'm here to help!
If you want the shot to go as you described, you should just stab the fake torso, the reason I said to reverse it with the Pitchfork is because the pitchfork is more difficult to stab something with. It has at least 4 long spikes that need to clear through the torso whereas a sword is only one. Just stab the torso and rig up blood bags and some tubing to spurt blood as you stab it.
Good luck and post some pics!

Thankx! That helps a lot. Unfortunately, I probably wont be able to post pics anytime soon because I wont be filming until around December, when I'm getting the props One more qeustion, though. I've read how people have used syringes and aquarium tubing to have blood spurting. I've also read about using the condom or water balloon filled with fake blood and using the washer with fishing line. Which way would be more realistic for the desired effect? Are there any other cheap methods you know of that would work well or better?

The condom thing is for squibs and I've never had it work. Use the tubing and syringe. Better yet, duct-tape the tubing to the nozzle of a Garden Sprayer (you can get them at Home-Depot or wal-Mart in the lawn and garden section, they're sprayers you pump us and are commonly used to spray pesticides or plant food) they hold more blood and you can get a much better spray.
You should also rig up blood bags, you can use condoms for those, just make sure that whatever type of bag you use is filled and tied off so that is ultra-tight and will break easily!

K, first off, when you say to rig up bllod bags, you mean ones that will just pop because of the sword hitting them, right? Second, I've read about the pesticide sprayer thing, and there are a couple problems with that, first of all, I don't know how to find out if it's the kind that has a nozzle for tubing or a hose (or is that all sprayers?), and also, when I've looked online atr websites, they have cost liker $50! Also, with the syringe and tubing, would that be realistic? CUz I meen, if you gt stabbed in the gut with a 4 foot long sword, it won't be one spurt, it'll be like a waterfall! But I get the gist of the idea and look forward to experimenting:)

One more thing I forgot to add, any substitute for condoms for the blood bags? As I am 13, it'll be pretty hard to find a store that will sell them to me, let alone buying them without my parents finding out!

As I am 13, it'll be pretty hard to find a store that will sell them to me, let alone buying them without my parents finding out! Ha, don't worry you can use a ziplock bag if you need to. Anything that is thin enough to break easy and can hold blood is fine. Garden Sprayers all have a tube with a spray nozzle on the end, you just duct-tape the tubing to the end of the nozzle, just unscrew the nozzle tip and tape the tubing. They should only cost about $15-20 at wal-Mart or Home Depot, you onjly need a small plastic one, maybe a gallon or so. The syring will give just one long and thin spurt, it could work if you hooked up a few syringes. You can buy them really cheap off of veteranaryy supply websites. For the effect, your gonna want the blood to be gushing out, not spraying, so just use the blood bags so the sword punctures them and hook a few syrings of the sprayer up so lots of blood pours out when the sword hits. You can aways do a cut away shot of blood hitting a wall or the actors face.
