hey all!
we have a scene where our actress has parts of her skin sliced off by her mutilator. how can we do this cheaply and realistically. we have a few ideas, but they seem a little impractical (and cheesy) at this time.
any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
thanks. emile.

Im no fx wiz, but I used liquid latex to make a mask for someone on halloween. It became like a second skin on her and when she pulled it off, it looked like she was litterally ripping off her face!

Yeah, latex is the easiest and most effective way to go. Paint up the section of skin to look raw and bloody with make-up, then coat it with a layer of liquid latex. Press a piece of toilet paper or paper towel into the wet latex (to add some support to the slice of skin, otherwise it will just rip apart in little pieces) and when it's dry, add another coat of latex. Continue this for a few coats and let dry. Blend the latex into the skin tone and there your ready to go. If you want blood spurting out, hide some aquarium tubing down the limb or area she is being cut in, and put the end under the fake skin. Attatch the other end to a garden sprayer or syringe filled with blood. When the skin starts to get sliced, pump away!
