All right. I'm in hopes of creating an all out gore fest. The moral of the short is fighting addiction, but i wont give any more away. Anyways.. one scene consists of a guy cutting himself by mistake... a lot. My way of creating the cut and blood running out the cheapest way was by getting some sort of thin pack or something and filling it with fake blood. I would then coat the pack in latex over the actual skin. when the razor punctures the latex and pack, the blood would then spiil out. Is this an effective way of accomplishing the effect i want?

You could do that, but the blood pack would have to be very well hidden under the latex. You also need to be extremely careful with the razor, as one slip up will mean a really nasty, and deep cut. An easier way to do it, though a bit less graphic, is to dull the razor out completely, then glue some tubing to the side of it the camera won't see, run the tubing into a syringe or garden sprayer filled with blood. As the actor runs the dull razor across his skin, pump the blood and it will appear as though he is slicing himself. You could also attach some kind of rubber or plastic bulb to squeeze the blood out of. Almost like a novelty shop squirting flower.
