I am using shotguns for my weapon of choice, so does any one know how to make the effect of someones chest exploding? Thank you.

You would have to either construct a fake torso, and blow a hole in it with squibs or a real shotgun (not recomended, and incredibly dangerous!) You could rig up a premade wound, about the size of a grapefruit, made fromm latex and cotton balls, to the actors chest. Make a big latex chunk of flesh and postion it in the middle of the wound, attacth some fishing line to the chunk of flesh and rig up some blod tubing to the wound. Precut the actors shirt, where the shot will hit, and place it over the wound. Feed the fishing line through the cuts in the shirt and attatch it to a large stick, run the fishing line off camera. On action, have a crew member pull the fishing line as hard as he can and the chunk of lfesh will rip through the shirt exposing the wound. Start pumpiing blood and you've got yourself a shotgunned chest. That's pretty much how they did all the headshots in the original Dawn of The Dead, so trust me, it does work.
