guts falling out

i don't know if this has been posted but here it goes,

in the shot the person gets there stomach slashed by a sword and i need it so that the guts fall out right as the the sword passes by the stomach. how would i go about doing this

Here's a similiar effect someone wanted help with, this is the best way I've found to do it. Just replace chainsaw with sword:

Okay, for the chainsaw:

You need to first get ahold of some intestines. I don't recomend using pig guts as they are unsanitary and smell very bad. There are a few different methods floating around on how to make good fake ones, but this is how I figured out to make them and they have yielded the best results:

Stuff panty hose with cotton balls, and stretch them as long as they will go, and duct tape them to something to keep them stretched until the latex dries.

Paint a thin layer of latex over the panty hose and let dry. Repeat this process about 6 times.

Paint a thin layer of latex over a large glass or smooth plastic area and let dry. Peel up the sheet of latex and stretch it (as tightly as possible) over a section of the latex coated pany hose (it will stick to itself very nice). Cover every part of the "guts" with the thi latex sheets until it's all covered.

Now, paint extra large section of latex sheets and stretch them over the enitre thing as snugly as possible. Fill in any gaps in the guts with more latex and let dry. You can paint them with spray paint or acrylic, although acriylic tends to crack. I found it's best to leave them unpainted but coat them in very thick blood for the effect.


Now stuff them into a thin plastic bag and attatch them to the actors chest. Be sure to fill the bag with plently of blood and goo. Add flour to the blood to give it a thick and opaque look.

Super glue a length of string across the bag. Cover the bag with the actors shirt. Carefully cut a slit in the actors shirt where the guts are to come out. Feed the string through the slit and using a few bits of clear masking tape, close the shirt. Attatch the string the the chainsaw and on action, have the actor pull the chainsaw across the precut shirt. The string will rip open the bag and the guts will spill out. You can do it much easier if you don't want it all in one shot.
