I was wondering if anyone had some advice for a good ripped off arm. I'm not so much in need of how to make the arm as I am in actually getting a good shot of it being ripped off.

You want to get some Dipping Latex from Monstermakers.com and make Chunks of Flesh. It's what Tom Savini uses to make zombie bites. Basically, you want to add a little bit of red latex colorant (also available from Monstermakers.com) ir some red food coloring to the latex. Paint out a thin layer on a smooth surface, I use a sheet of plexiglass I got at Home Depot for $10. Let it dry and when it does, rake your fingers across it, tearing little holes in it. When you have ripped it up good enough, powder it with baby powder. Slowly peel it off the plexiglass while powdering the underside or it will stick to itself. This is much easier with 2 people. When it's peel up, shake off the excess powder and you have a sheet of Chunks of Flesh. Now attach some strips of it to the fake arm and then stick them to the stump on the actor. Hide some fish aquarium tubing attached to a garden sprayer or a large syringe filled with blood in the actors clothes to the stump. Using some latex, lightly glue the arm and stump together, have the actor hide his arm inside his shirt or pants so it's not in the shot. On action, have the arm get ripped off and pump the blood. The Chunks of Flesh will stretch and rip looking like tendons and muscle and the blood will gush out. If you want a really nasty effect, get some Ultra-Slime and pour some on the stump. It's stringy and gooey as hell and looks disgusting. I think you can get that on Monstermakers, or try Burman Industries. Hope this helps, post some pics!
