If you're strictly working through MIDI you don't need a multi track recorder or recording software. You can simply look for a MIDI software like Reason 2.5 which has a sequencer, that's what you want if your just doing MIDI, beleive me unless you want to record guitar seperate work with just MIDI it is easier. I have played in several bands and have been recording music for about 10 years now I went to school for audio production, and play guitar, bass, keyboard, percussion, and do vocals, I have thousands of dollars worth of equipment for recording music and thousands more in instruments, this thing replaces them all. It runs about $350 to $400 but believe me it is worth every penny. Built in Drum machine, Synth, Sequencer, Sampler, Analog synth settings. From this posting you would think I work for Propellerhead (the company that makes Reason). Drop me a line if your have any other ?'s I have been researching this for awhile.
