I'm looking to compose the underscore for a "killer" (no pun intended) horror film. If your film is locked and you're in need of a score, maybe we can collaborate on it. For some audio examples, check out my web site at: www.markdalzell.comI also have a sound design business for those in need of special sound effects etc. Good luck. Do you work for free or do you charge?

CTF,
It all depends on the situation. I understand the no/low budget of an aspiring film producer. I myself am involved as an independent film producer. When you just don't have the financial leverage for certain parts for your project, you have to be willing to negotiate.
So to offer my creative services for free, a few things must be considered.
*If the film is locked. *Quality of the film. *Percentage / Points offered by Film's Producer from future generated sales. *If there is no out of pocket expense up front / I would retain all rights to the music to be used however I chose to market it. (i.e. Sound Track, Loops, Royalty Free Music etc.)
These are a few things I can think of right off the top of my head.
Don't get me wrong, I am definitely open to negotiation but I won't compose an entire underscore for a full length feature film without some compensation in the end. I'm sure you (as well as your fellow film producers) can understand this.
I hope this answers your question.

Okay. I was needing a short score for a small movie. The movie is set to run about 20 minutes, give or take a few. I don't know how it would work for this though.

CTF,
Why don't you contact me at: mark@markdalzell.com
We can discuss this further. You can leave me your phone number or I'll give you mine. Either way, lets see if we can work something out.
