What ever happened to these guys? I remember contacting them awhile back and they were even in a few local papers. Now when I try to send them email it tells me that their address is no longer active....
Anyhow, I was just wondering....

That's most likely it. I wish they had continued with the project though. From what I heard about the movie, it sounded pretty cool!

Yeah there has been plenty of promising films that end up never being finished. Just have to appreciate the ones that do.

I spoke with these guys face-to-face in Lexington about helping to produce this flick back in May 2003. They were very nice (although late for our appointment ) and seemed really excited about the project. But, they also talked about bringing in Tom Savini for FX and going with SAG actors - all of which I cautioned against for budgetary reasons and scheduling issues. Needless to say, I wasn't surprised to never hear from them again. I think a lot of it was wishful thinking that didn't quite pan out. I wish them the best, though. I'm sure if they keep at it, they can make something happen. After all, persistence is the key!

Well, they also held auditions over at National Bridge here in Kentucky during late summer 2003. I didnt go but I wanted too. What is the big deal with SAG actors? I'm not saying anything bad about anyone with SAG, I just dont understand - lol! I would love to work with Tom Savini as well but there is no way that I would be able to - lol. I was lucky to even get Bloody Mary (aka Bobbie Weiner) as a Special Make-Up FX Consultant. You should check out her site at www.dearbloodymary.com. Randy

I have nothing at all bad to say about SAG actors. Trust me, they are the best in the world. However, Zombie Boulevard was not operating on a studio-sized horror budget. As of today, minimum pay for a SAG actor in a low-budget is $466 dollars per day or $1610 per week. This does not even include per diem, housing, overtime, etc. Even with a short 10-day shooting schedule, that's not chump change - especially when we're talking about legions of zombies, etc. Because of this expense, I recommended that they use several talent agencies to scout for talented and experienced non-union actors and focus the bulk of their budget on FX, post-production, and marketing.
Also, at the time I spoke with them (early June), they were planning a mid-July shoot date. So they were going to jump into a low-budget agreement with SAG without having really studied up on SAG requirements and little time left to do so. That's never a good idea.
Savini was another problematic issue. Yeah, the man's great and his name alone can push a film - BUT - they were a month away from shooting and still had no commitment from him. My concern was that even if he did eventually sign on, he wouldn't have enough time before the shoot to give it his best effort. My advice was that they would be best served by snagging a hungry, young warrior, fresh from working on Buffy, who was eager to make a name for him/herself. S/He would be affordable, experienced, and motivated. Just the kind of soldier you need for a first-time director a month out from a 10-day horror shoot.
There were other factors about the shoot and the scheduling, additional causes of concern, that are too detailed to sufficiently discuss here. But, hopefully, these guys are still in Kentucky, waiting patiently, solving these issues, and planning for another go at Zombie Boulevard. I wish them success!

I've worked with SAG people a lot and there are ways around the SAG rules. There is SAG defered, experimental, and student options that allow SAG people to work basically for free. A lot of SAG actors do this. I recently worked on a feature with a name star that wasn't getting paid because we did the project as SAG defered. Bottom line, if the SAG actor believes in the project, there are ways around the rules that allow them to work for cheap or free. Sometimes they just use a different name too.
