I have just started my own low budget horror production company and am looking for a completed script, or someone to write a screenplay based on a story I have.
I'll be upfront in what I am looking for. If all you have is a 2 hour long boob and gore fest, please kindly move along. The sort of film I am interested in directing and producing are along the lines of classic (golden age of horror) fright films. I want something that does not try to gross out the audience from the get go. I think a perfect example of overall looking I'm shooting for is the SAW TRILOGY, minus the excessive blood of 2 and 3.
In my films, there will be little, if any, nudity, no 5000 gallons of blood, and no sick hockey masked country boy chasing around half dressed college coeds.
It is my opinion that in order to truly terrify an audience, you must make them believe that the situation that is unfolding in front of them could possibly befall them if they are not careful.
I'm sure many of you would agree that in the day of age we live in, indeed the scariest things are what we experience in our lives.
In addition to the no naked coed slashing rule (That one got a resounding boo from friends of mine), I must also ask to avoid a couple of additional things:
1) Please no direct references to any sort of organized religion
Last thing we need are Catholic League Jerks pissing on all.
2) As previously stated, little to no nudity. If you feel that a tiny
bit of nudity is needed to actually make a point in the story,
then it will looked into, and determined at a later time.
3) No big huge flashy monsters!! In my life, the scariest monsters
are ourselves.
I'm also a huge fan of what I'd like to call 180 films. The best example I can give is that incredible classic "From Dusk till Dawn"
That movie started out with just a basic cat n mouse chase following fugitives to Mexico, then turned into a vampire all you can eat.
I also love twist endings, especially the ones that really mess with your head when you realize that in 30 seconds of images, the last 2 hours has been a complete lie. That is what I'm looking for from a script.
If you are still interesting in writing my current development, or if you in fact have in your possession a script that you think fits the bill. Then feel free to drop me a line at horrorbuff1979@yahoo.com. I will be taking submissions through the end of the month, and two weeks into July.
I have a devoted group of actors and a master DP just itching to go with something. Please give us that scratch!!
All PARTIES THAT ARE REALLY INTERESTED IN THIS PROJECT SHOULD RESPOND PROMPTLY VIA E-MAIL AT THE ADDRESS GIVEN BELOW. GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE.
Regards,
