PAXICO PROJECTION SERIES 05 [LOS ANGELES]
Paxico Gallery to host short film projection series throughout January 2005, showing films (< 30 minutes) in four categories:
- narrative
- documentary
- experimental
- performance document
Selected films will be screened at Paxico Gallery in LA with 40-50 seats per showing.
Ad copy for the event reflects the tone of the project: “Screening remarkable short films in a darkened room... between a bakery and a dry cleaner... in an ordinary Los Angeles neighborhood.”
Paxico will edit and publish two DVDs that will each include four films. A panel comprised of faculty from USC and UCLA film schools will select the films on the first disc. The second will include films chosen by the audience by ballot during the screenings.
Student film projects are not appropriate for this venue. However, filmmakers who are currently taking classes are invited to submit.
Trailers for all selected films will be posted on Paxico Review, and those who wish to sell their work will share in the profits from online sales at the gallery store.
Filmmakers need not be present during the screening, but are encouraged to attend the ‘meet the filmmakers’ event, set for the evening of January 7.
International submissions are welcome.
The film submission fee is $6 per film and can be waived in case of financial hardship. And the suggested donation for each evening of projection will be around $5. We expect to screen at least four films per night.
Submission forms are also available for download at: www.paxico.com/PaxicoEntryForm.pdf
Entries must be received by December 10, 2004.
