Going along with Travis' recent review of LovecraCked! The Movie (here) is news that a new extended version of the film will be opening the Backseat Film Festival next week.
No surprise, really, as the press guy for the festival (Doug Sakmann) is the guy who directed Re-Penetrator, which appears in LovecraCked. I'm sure Doug won't remember this, but I was working the door at a bar (Apocalypse Lounge, RIP) when they had their afterparty for the Re-Penetrator premiere a few years ago. The bar was showing off his film, which is basically just a hardcore porn movie with lots of blood and guts. We had a TV facing the street, too.You should've seen the faces on people walking by...
In any case, Backseat has quite a great lineup... including a movie I've been wanting to check out for ages- Blood Car. The quite-excellent Automatons is also playing.
Of interest for metal fans is the documentary called Get Thrashed: The Story of Thrash Metal. Sounds d**n good, and man, do I love the thrash.
Along with those, there's a horror double feature of Chainsaw Sally and Stupid Teenagers Must Die!, two programs crammed with short films, and much, much more. Sounds like a great time. Making things better, each screening is 5 bucks, or 30 buys you the whole weekend. Your ticket stub will get you into an afterparty every night, with a free shot and a beer. That's a friggin' deal and a half.
The festival runs from 3/29-4/1 in Philly. Check the official site out for all the info.
