The film starts out with a composer conductiing a band to music composition. But theres something off kilter about this orchestral as the composer conducts what looks like a punk band. Not your normal orchestral.
Fall - The first short starts with a man renting a room trying to get away from something. The Past. He meets Alice the owner of the house. Once he becomes comfortably in his room he opens up to Alice about his work and also a picture of his brother who died. It is Halloween and the man asks when dinner is ready. As he sits down for dinner he opens the door for a trick or treater who warns him of things to come. Later on he sees a dead women in a bathtub or does he. Once hes back in his room he recieves revelations from his dead brother to find out he is also dead. His brother tells him he hung himself while the brother overdose on drugs. Toward the end of the short the man is to be judge upon his sins by a panel of the dead.
Thoughts: The story start out well but i really didnt see a build up to the ending. And when i got to the ending it really disappointed me a bit. The first half was much better than the second i have to say. 3 out 5
Winter - The second story starts with a preacher at church preaching to a group teens. Well apparently the kids havent been listening as one of the kids takes money out of the collection box to buy some weed. When the kid tries to return the money he is caught by the preacher who chases him around til hes outside when all of sudden they are killed off by this mystery being with guts splattering everytwhere. Then we see two girls crying who were earlier in the church holding hands. We can obviously see there was an affection between the two as they start kissing. One gets killed off and we see who killed all these kids unravel.
Thoughts: This one has to be my farvorite story of the lot. The effects while low budget were affective. And the acting all around was excellent. 4 out 5
Spring - The spring story was completely silent and b&w(except towards the end switching to color and then back to b&w) with the music carrying the emotions of what happpening.
Thought: I really could not get into this movie. The beginning of the story the image was shaky which hurt the overall viewing experience. I did like the fact that the film was in black and white and actors were great to show emotion without actually saying anything. 2 out 5
Summer - Finally the last short film revolves around Angela who asks Do you want to live or die? Angela wants to live and drinks the blood from a vampire. The next morning she hungers for blood. And gets it when a man walks by. She makes a new friend Maggie who feeds her food but just as she seems normal she bites Maggie as well. 3 out of 5
Shawn Buffington did an excellent job with compiling these shorts together and its well worth a purchase. While i will be the first to say that short films are not my cup of tea Horror Seasons is the exception. As the shorts kept my attention throughout.
The two things that pop out to me right away is the excellent writing and superb music. The acting at times was spotty but overall good for this type of film. Overall Horror Seasons recieves a 3 out of 5
