The intro is set in the Backwoods of Tennessee 1921.
The film starts out with an old creepy looking guy assembling a Skarecrow to put near the woods. Cut to a group of what looks to be a group of redneck outlaw fugitives sharpening there large knifes when all of a sudden a guy comes along with a gun in hand. The guy was completely outnumbered and one sneaks up behind with the large knife. Of course what happens next is a pitchfork to the gut and decapitation with blood spurting all over the Skarecrow. That night the Skarecrow comes to life killing the fugitives one by one. This begins the legend of the Skarecrow...
Oct. 13 1981
A group of friends decide to go to a remote cabin to have a little fun for the weekend. When they stop at a gas station an old ugly old man appears out of nowhere to warn them of things to come. When they arrive at the cabin right off the bat there is a little hanky panky going on amongst one of the couples. And when they go outside an argument insues where the guy slaps the girl in the face which in turn blood from her nose spurts out onto the skarecrow. This of course awakens him once again. Can the skarecrow once again kill off all that come across him or we once and for all be stop?
In the last couple of years there have been several scarcrow theme low budget films. And Skarecrow doesn’t really change the formula all too much. Though there are some redeeming quality’s I really like such as the kick ass rock music through out the film and obviously the director pays homage to great slasher films of the past knowing the material very well. The actors did a decent job with carrying the story although some came off as a bit annoying to me. And the runtime of 75mins was too short to fully go into explaining everything. Skarecrow while definitely showing its flaws is still very much entertaining and does has its share of T&A, scary makeup, guts, blood, and intestines to make it a worthwhile slasher flick. And for that I give it a 3 out 5.
