so...what do people favor? I know the Sennheiser M-whatever is the standard, but has anyone found cheaper alternatives? What about Azden? I keep hearing good things about those.

I've got a Philmore DC200 that I've used with prosumer camera's. It uses a minipin connector and it's pickup for recording is quite good for a $150 shotgun mic. So if you are recording direct to camera and are using a DV or Digital8 Camera, this would be a good inexpensive solution.

I've read about these three but wouldn't mind hearing from owners of any one of them...we're in the market for a couple of mics and still aren't sure which way to go.
And where we're located, there's only online shopping so no tryouts for us.
