I was wondering if anyone could tell me what editing software out there is the best? There is so much out there and I dont want to spend my money on something that is not needed. I want to be able to deal with sound, add music, make really good titles and credits, change the color of some scenes, etc. Just the ordinary stuff that helps make a movie look and sound good...
I have a PC and use Windows XP, if this is any help at all....

If you are looking for a good value, you may want to try Sony's ScreenBlast. For $99 you get an interface that is similar to editting ssytems costing hundreds more and it handles 2 streams of video and 3 streams of audio. This allows for some very nice video effects and fairly decent layering of audio. You also get a free copy of a very good Mpeg2 encoder for free and a copy of Sonic MyDVD for free. All in all it is a very nice package for someone just starting out and gives you a whole lot of bang for your buck.

I second that vote for Sony's Screenblast. I have the full blown version, Veags, but have looked at the tool set for Screenblast and it's very good. At $99, it's the bomb.
