Can Hi-8 be put onto a computer and edited digitally? If so, how can this be done?

Do you have a capture card for your computer? If you have firewire or i-link, shoot your footage on Hi8 then borrow a Digital 8 Camera. Most of these will play back Hi8 tapes and they will transfer the footage through the firewire line to your computer. I got one to digitize old footage I shot back when I used Hi8. This means you only need access to the Digital 8 camera for a day or two instead of having to borrow it the whole time you shoot. Then, if you can burn to DVD, you won't even need a digital camera to get the film out of the computer.

Thanks, Adom. The reason I was wondering is becuase I have a lot of footage I shot with my old Hi-8 camera that I dont want to lose and would love to edit/play with.

I have the dazzle 80 video creator, which you just hook up the camcorder into it and hook up the convertor box into the computer. it works very well. ive used it for hi 8 myself. if youd like to see the quality, you can go to my site and in the film section play "the dark road" minute and a half film i made with super 8 and hi 8.
