I was wondering if HD Tapes are usuable with Mini-DV camcorders. I have looked and havent been able to find any information on this. I dont think they can, but someone told me different.
Also if they can be used in Mini-DV camcorder's, what does it do for the video and audio?

Presumably you mean HDV on mini-dv tapes? If so, then yes, they are the same type of cassette.
If you mean any other kind of tape including full-size HD, then no, they will not be compatible with a mini-dv camera.

It's just a mini-dv tape, it should surely work fine? The FX1 records HD to regular Mini-DV tapes, so this 'HD Tape' of sonys looks like simply being a marketing gimmick to me, a bit like the old 'Chrome' cassette tapes in the eighties. I would probably use regular tapes, but make sure you don't re-use them, that should solve most problems with dropout or whatever. Compatability list probably only shows the current models, that would be about right for Sony's marketing department!
