I thought maybe we can create an instructional video for making horror flicks. For fun and profit.
We could have sections on Storyboarding Composing music Preproduction Tips to cut costs(Guerrilla Filmmaking) Post Production Etc
Once we get each chapter of the dvd figured out. We would assigned that person to one chapter. That person would film maybe a 5-15 minute clip with his commentary about things such as plot, character development, backstory etc for his section on writing. Send it off to whoever we get to edit the vid. Splice it all together. Put it on dvd. Either self distibute it or find someone else to distribute it. Profit would go back to the filmmakers. Maybe we wont make alot of money but it would be a fun project and maybe help a young filmmaker just starting out. Please leave feedback, ideas, whatever.

I think this is a GREAT idea and could have a good chance of turning a profit, if advertised correctly, but I can foresee a few problems. What's the overall concept for the video? How do we make each segment consistent with the concept? Who decides who makes each segment? In fact, who decides anything? How are the profits divided, etc?
There's a ton of questions that need to be answered before this idea can really take flight. However, if this becomes a real possibility, I have several suggestions. Also, I may be able to volunteer some equipment or services, depending on what we need.

Yes there are alot of initial questions that need to be answered and hopefully we can iron out all the issues. First i think we need to create a team or partners to oversee the initial issues of content of video, who will be involved, legal stuff, distribution of profits. Right now it just an idea as the starting point. So i need suggestions for where to go from here.

A very good idea - could be lots of fun. I've just completed two student films and have learned a lot doing so.
I can help with editting or whatever.

I think it's a good idea and would be willing to help out. I think you might want to form a panel that will decide final edits and let people send in stuff in a format you want. You might want to use clips from people's indy films to illistrate points. Would you want to sell this yourself or send iit off to see if a distributor might be interested?

Guys, I think that this is an awesome Idea, but I think Steve is right in saying that there has to be some sort of panel or committee that puts it all together.
i think Steven's idea about using clips from films as examples is really great also.... People would be willing to allow their clips to be used for free in exchange for the exposure (except for the Bad examples lol)
There will only end up being about ten segments, right?

Nice points LastResortman actually was thinking the same thing about having a panel and also about having cut scene with their independent flick to make the point. On the distribution, not sure yet. Might self distribute it unless there was an interest from an distributer. As you can see having thought out everything yet. The idea came to me today lol.

This is a great idea.. we need to support guerilla film making. Maybe other people will see that it is a true art form some day.

Thanks we want it to be of the utmost quality. Dont want to make it look like a thrown together home video so we are taking it slow and want to outline everything before we get started. Applicants can email me with their resume. Keep in mind that if you apply it doesnt mean you will be in the video. I am currently in the process of creating a panel of people who will determine the parties involved.
