Producing seems to me to be a very complicated part of filmmaking. Does anyone have any tips that they would like to share?

Producing is one of the most misused credits in a film. It is clearly defined who is directing, DP, editor, etc. but it seems producer credits get handed out like candy which waters down the value of that credit. And when that happens producing becomes a thankless job because everyone becomes a producer and no one really respects the title.
One of the few ways you can gain respect as a low / no budget producer is to A) pay people or B) fire people. Either one of those options sends a message that you mean business.
Off topic, thank GOD they finally added this section to the message board.

Beyond what's already been mentioned.......
A good producer should provide the director with what he or she needs in order to capture their vision... They should handle the behind the scenes "buisness" so to speak.... I'd also say that a quality producer knows how to stay out of the director's way... They should be there to "help" and not interfere.

As the owner of Innovative Minds Entertainment, I take it upon myself to be the producer...What I do is get actors, and handle their problems, as well as all the problems that may occur, I take care of all the editing and such making sure that the director's mind is focused on just that...Keeping everyone happy, and making sure that everything goes as planned.
